3) Thanks for looking, I've downloaded the above script and it's just what I want. I'm trying to get the menu positioned in the centre of the page.
How do I do this?

By center, do you mean center the menu items within the menu bar, or the menu bar itself relative to the page? If the former, the key is to modify the menu bar's CSS so it doesn't use float:left as part of its style (which the default CSS does to achieve its look). Go to the Menu Generator (http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex1/ddlevelsmenu/generator.htm) page for the menu, and select a theme such as Chrome Menu to see a style in which the menu items are centered relative to the menu bar.
