Query results to auto-update

Hi,

i've seen on several websites, the functionality where you fill out a form, you click "search" and it presents the results on the same page. You can then change the search criteria on the same form and the results are auto-updated as the new query command is executed

can this be done with vbscript/asp? is there a name for this functionality so i can search for a demo script ?
