1) Script Title: Ultimate Fade-in slideshow (v2.4)

2) Script URL (on DD): http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex14/fadeinslideshow.htm

3) Describe problem:

I believe I set everything up correctly per the script instructions, but my images just will not come in. All I get is a black box where the images should be. My website is at www.ottoandsons-nursery.com/test

Here is my code:

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.6.4/jquery.min.js"></script>

<script type="text/javascript" src="fadeslideshow.js">

<script type="text/javascript">

var mygallery=new fadeSlideShow({
wrapperid: "fadeshow1", //ID of blank DIV on page to house Slideshow
dimensions: [900, 270], //width/height of gallery in pixels. Should reflect dimensions of largest image
imagearray: [
["http://www.ottoandsons-nursery.com/Roses_slide6.jpg"] //<--no trailing comma after very last image element!
displaymode: {type:'auto', pause:2500, cycles:0, wraparound:false},
persist: false, //remember last viewed slide and recall within same session?
fadeduration: 500, //transition duration (milliseconds)
descreveal: "none",
togglerid: ""

This is what I call in the page (template): <div id="fadeshow1"></div>

This is the top of my stylesheet:
@charset "utf-8";
/* CSS Document */

This is what I have at the top of the JS file:

var fadeSlideShow_descpanel={
controls: [['http://www.ottoandsons-nursery.com/images/x.png',7,7], ['http://www.ottoandsons-nursery.com/images/restore.png',10,11], ['http://www.ottoandsons-nursery.com/images/loading.gif',54,55]], //full URL and dimensions of close, restore, and loading images
fontStyle: 'normal 11px Verdana', //font style for text descriptions
slidespeed: 200 //speed of description panel animation (in millisec)

there could also be other problems but this report:

Broken Images - http://www.ottoandsons-nursery.com/test/

from Firefox Developer Tools indicates (upon closer inspection) that the images are all 404 Not Found.

Perhaps you forgot to upload them, or uploaded them to a different folder. Or they could be there under different names. Be aware that upper and lower case letters matter on the web, so if it's like:

It's not, but if it were, using:

like you have will not work.

In any case, you have to either upload the images to where they are expected to be or if they're already there somewhere, change their addresses in the code so that it points to them correctly.

Thanks John for that.

I did notice that when I placed the new 'test' website in a sub-folder 'test' under the domain www.ottoandson-nursery.com, I forgot to make the change in the file location as follows:

should have been...

After I made this change, and uploaded the index.html file, they are still not coming in. I did initially upload the files to the correct place on the server and I did double-check the filenames for correctness. :( ???

I think you uploaded your corrected index page to the root folder by mistake. It's working fine here (though all the other images on the page are missing):

The paths for the slideshow images are correct on that page, but still wrong on:

Hi John,

This is the 'old' site: http://www.ottoandsons-nursery.com/index.html

This is the new site: http://www.ottoandsons-nursery.com/test/index.html and why I installed it in '/test' in order to test it before replacing the old site.

Still not working...

Do you think it's because the script will not run in a sub-folder as opposed to the root?

OK, you've changed things again since my last post. Now there is no index.html in the root and you've moved the images to the test folder.

So the page in the test folder still has the incorrect paths on it because the images are, for example now here:

Not here:

as currently listed in its code.
