View Full Version : Floating Top Bar - Some form controls appear on front

Hi everyone,

I've implemented the floating top bar script. It works wonderful. Thanks.
However, when the bar floats above a form, almost all drop-down boxes scroll on top (front) of the top bar, while all other elements are behind it.
interesting enough, it happens only with the dropdowns.

I'm using IE6. and the script is integrated into an ASP .net aspx page - therefore the dropdowns are standard .net controls.

Any help?

Unfortunately this is a known issue with absolutely positioned elements in general in IE. There is no easy fix for this.

Darn. Well... if there is not an 'easy' fix.. I wonder if anyone knows a 'hard' fix ;-)
Thanks anyway... so far the benefit is greater than the annoyance, so my users are putting up with it so far.

Hehe well the hard fix involves customizing the script to react specifically to what's on your page, specifically, the select menus when the bar comes in contact with them. For example, the script could temporarily disable the select menus when they overlap. This isn't a generic enhancement to the script though, and would need to be tailored for different pages.
