ASP.NET 4 Mobile Web App - Please Help

I am about to work on a asp.net with framework 4 mobile web application. The mobile web application should work correctly in all smartphones with browser - without any compatibiltiy issues. This will be my first mobile web app :) I will be using framework 4 and visual studio 2010 + SQL 2005. Would be great if you could provide some good starting point on creating a mobile web app using asp.net framework 4- resources, tutorials, references, etc.

I don't have much experience with this, but generally I'd recommend specifically targeting the important phones/browsers, then using standards and hoping it works for the rest. Trying to make it work on every phone, without ANY compatibility issues, sounds like you'll never actually accomplish that. There's always an exception, and unless you test on every phone and do bug fixing (and perhaps alternative versions) for every phone/browser, it may never work on everything. But you can get it to work on most.
