../ is one level up
/ is root level
google doesnt seem to accept symbols

Simple answer: the two following paths are equivalent:
./file.ext
file.ext
Technically you don't need the trailing slash. . is the current directory.
In some not-so-user-friendly file browsing programs (and anything command line) you will see two extra directories: .. (parent directory) and . (current directory).
