Stop the ability for viewers to make pics bigger

Hi there

I'm totally new to the site, so I hope you'll forgive me if I've asked this question in the wrong place.

However, having copied and pasted the script to stop people right clicking and copying work from my blog, I've now discovered that if they just click on the pic they can make it bigger and still right click to save it. I know I've visited blogs where you can't do this, can anyone tell me how please?

I believe you are describing a blog that makes the images into links so they view the files directly. You would need to disable this, but the method depends on how the blog is set up. You will need to give us a link to it so we can try to help.

However, there is no way to completely stop people from stealing images. You can make it more difficult, but not impossible, and someone who wants to steal the images can find a way to do it. If they can view the image, then they can save it-- it just depends on how. In fact, by viewing an image that means it is already transferred to their computer (but maybe not saved as a file they can access).

Also, everything you do to make it difficult to save the image will probably also cause problems for users who are not trying to steal the images.


The best answer is to rely on copyright (you can post a notice on the page) or to not post anything you are not willing to have stolen-- add watermarks or use low resolution preview-sized images so that nothing is available to steal. In fact, using small sized images is a good idea anyway-- they load faster and save you bandwidth.
