All Levels Navigational Menu (v2.2) Transparency

I would like to add transparency on the drop down menu. I have tried adding
opacity:0.4;
filter:alpha(opacity=40);
to .ddsubmenustyle, .ddsubmenustyle ul classes in ddlevelsmenu-base.css but it doesn't seem to work.

Can you recommend what I should do?

Try adding to the .ddsubmenustyle li
