3) Describe problem: What is causing the extra white space directly below this script in Internet Explorer? When I look at it in Firefox it displays correctly. Please help.. Below is the link I'm working on. http://www.midiowagrowth.com/new/index.html

IE has always been funny about line breaks in source code where inline tags like a and img are involved. In some cases it treats it like a <br> tag followed by a space. Here you have a lot of white space after the break. That makes it even more difficult for IE.

Change:

<td colspan="10" valign="bottom" height="204">
<a href="javascript:gotoshow()"><img src="../new/images/rotate/1.gif" name="slide" width=780 height=204 border=0 align="bottom" usemap="#slideMap" style="filter:blendTrans(duration=3)"></a>

<script language="JavaScript1.1">
<!--

var whichlink=0
var whichimage=0
var blenddelay=(ie)? do . . .

to:

<td colspan="10" valign="bottom" height="204">
<a href="javascript:gotoshow()"><img src="../new/images/rotate/1.gif" name="slide" width=780 height=204 border=0 align="bottom" usemap="#slideMap" style="filter:blendTrans(duration=3)"></a><script language="JavaScript1.1">
<!--

var whichlink=0
var whichimage=0
var blenddelay=(ie)? do . . .

To really see what's changed, scroll the code blocks fully.

Ideally though table(s) shouldn't be used here, they're for tabular data. For layout divisions or other block level elements should be used. And the document should be in standards mode (the current one is in quirks mode).

But changing all that would be complicated. If you're interested, seek help for that in the css section.
