1) Script Title: Ultimate fade-in slideshow 2.4

2) Script URL (on DD): http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex14/fadeinslideshow.htm

3) Describe problem: I have a single instance of the slideshow in a php file and all I see is a black box. No errors on the page. I tried putting an alert in the onslide event and that doesn't trigger. Code below. Any help appreciated. Thx.

**Edit: I just ran the IE debugger and got an error in the jquery.min.js line 55 - d=e[a.type] - 'Undefined' is null or not an object - how in the heck would i fix this???

Using Firefox Developer Tools I get this report (edited for clarity) on the images:

Broken Images -

carbessentials.net/images/hotproductclick.jpg
carbessentials.net/images/hotproductchike.jpg
carbessentials.net/images/hotproductdavinci.jpg

Anyways, it means that they are all 404 not found. The way the script works is that it doesn't even fully initialize, let alone perform its first slide, until the first image is loaded.

Make sure those images are there, if everything else is as one would imagine from your code, it should work. However, in my local mock up of what I think your code creates, I'm not getting any errors, but I am getting just the black box and no alert. And I'm not sure what you did in IE's debugger (or which IE debugger you used) to get that error.

If you want more help:

Please post a link to a page on your site that contains the problematic code so we can check it out.

Thanks for your reply John. I actually got it to work! Wanna know what I did? I capitalized certain letters in the image filenames to match the actual filenames in the directory (e.g. HotProductChike.jpg vs. hotproductchike.jpg). OK, I'm a Windows guy, so before I run out of the office screaming like my hair is on fire, can someone tell me why this would fix the problem? Is Linux case-sensitive or something? Unbelievable?!?!

Is Linux case-sensitive or something? Unbelievable?!?!

Almost all servers, even Windows servers I believe, are. It's a convention and set in the server's configuration, if available. Otherwise it would default to whatever is the server's default in this matter.

Good luck with your hair.
