how to remove borders from wmp11 in fullscreen

Hi, when playing the dvd of smallville in fullscreen mode I get black bars on all sides of the video. I can change the colors of the black bars in the settings. This changes the color of the black bars to the right and left of the video from black to green or whatever. My goal is to remove the vertical bars to the right and left of the video during fullscreen playback.

Ok, I found the solution. When playing dvds there are black borders above and below and to the right and left of the dvd. This seems to not matter which widescreen dvd you play. The color of the border to the right and left can be selected in the wmp options indicating that this is a wmp issue and not a dvd issue. That and the fact that all other players I have tried resize the skin to the ize of the video.

To fix this problem so that the video expands to fill the screen without resizing, stretching, cropping, or altering the artificially aspect ratio you will need to have the k-lite codec pack (http://www.codecguide.com/download_k-lite_codec_pack_basic.htm) program; a standard codec pack for windows media player.

Next go to the start menu --> all programs --> K-Lite Codec Pack --> Quick Codec Config --> check "DirectShow Filter Configuration" only --> select ffdshow filter configuration --> scroll down and select resize & Aspect --> check the resize box listed at the top so that the changes take effect --> click "resize to screen resolution" and "Keep original aspect ratio" also make sure that "resize always" on the right is also checked --> If you are running wmp 11 while making these changes close it and open it again and the changes will have taken effect.

Yep, lots of steps, but this will remove those artificial vertical borders to the right and left of the video.

I was unable to find this solution online. It took a few hours of trial and error to figure this out. I hope someone else who is having the same problem finds this.
