Just wondering how some of you guys present your web designs to clients. Do you just email them the image file? or do you create a mockup of some kind. I have been having problems with sending image files and I have looked into some different methods.

Codedpreview.com seemed to be a decent solution but their website seems to be down. Alternatively, HostedPreviews.com is a great option, but you must sign up and they only let you keep 3 previews at a time (unless you pay).

If anyone has some advice let me know, thanks.

I always prefer to meet with my client in person, with a mostly-hard-copy presentation. Sounds weird, but I've found it's beneficial to a lot of people (especially non-tech company owners) to have something they can carry around and look at and understand. diagrams, charts, and outlines are a lot easier for a businessman to understand than a .png that looks great (to you) but gives no real idea of how the site will work (to anyone but you).

If meeting in person is not an option (read: internet client from some other country), I start with a lot of emails, maybe sketches sent back and forth. This evolves into mock-ups. It's always better to be involved when you're doing the "big" pitch: I like to call and discuss what they see while they're looking at stuff. (skype or another voip is great when long-distance would be prohibitively costly.)

Later on in the process, everyone gets their own "client page" on my site, where I store documents (PDFs of our contracts, invoices, etc.), images of various concepts, and notes back-and-forth. Quite a bit of my work involves php apps, so there's space for demos as well.

Meeting in person is not an option. I think even if i did meet in person, I would bring a laptop with me to show him the designs.

Im giving hostedpreviews.com a shot for now, don't know if i need to pay for the upgrade acct quite yet. You can delete your previews there and reuse the slot, so 3 slots can get you through some clients if you aren't too active.

are you showing images or an actual website?

Either way, if you're designing websites, you ought to have a nice website yourself. Dumping a concept image or working site demo into a subdirectory isn't difficult. And -while I suppose there's nothing wrong with using an outside service- I think it's more desirable to have your work on your site.

I just add an extension to my site... Send them the link to see a sample mock-up.
Most people I deal appreciate the opportunity to see and get a feel for the site on screen... I'll include a sample navigation that goes nowhere and general info. images with Lorem Ipsom text...

yup, it's better if you show that mock-up on your own website. They can see your company portfolio too...
