1) Script Title: jQuery Multi Level CSS Menu #2

2) Script URL (on DD): http://evanced.info/pasco/evanced/eventcalendar.asp?ag=&et=&df=calendar&cn=0&private=0&ln=ALL

3) Describe problem: I am using this script successfully on 2 other sites - www.pascolibraries.org & http://library.booksite.com/6692/nl/?list=CNL19, however for the third page, http://evanced.info/pasco/evanced/eventcalendar.asp?ag=&et=&df=calendar&cn=0&private=0&ln=ALL, I have weird spacing issues in both IE & FF between each heading and phantom black squares to the left of menu items in FF.

The css:

.jqueryslidemenu{
font: normal 12px tahoma;
background: #ffffff;
width: 100%;
float: center;
}

.jqueryslidemenu ul{
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
list-style-type: none;
}

/*Top level list items*/
.jqueryslidemenu ul li{
position: relative;
display: inline;
float: left;
z-index: 100;
}

/*Top level menu link items style*/
.jqueryslidemenu ul li a{
display: block;
background: #ffffff; /*background of tabs (default state)*/
color: white;
padding: 2px 4px;
border-right: 1px solid silver;
border-bottom: 1px solid silver;
color: #2d2b2b;
text-decoration: none;
}

* html .jqueryslidemenu ul li a{ /*IE6 hack to get sub menu links to behave correctly*/
display: inline-block;
}

.jqueryslidemenu ul li a:link, .jqueryslidemenu ul li a:visited{
color: black;
}

.jqueryslidemenu ul li a:hover{
background: white; /*tab link background during hover state*/
color: blue;
}

/*1st sub level menu*/
.jqueryslidemenu ul li ul{
position: absolute;
left: 0;
display: block;
visibility: hidden;
}

/*Sub level menu list items (undo style from Top level List Items)*/
.jqueryslidemenu ul li ul li{
display: list-item;
float: none;
}

/*All subsequent sub menu levels vertical offset after 1st level sub menu */
.jqueryslidemenu ul li ul li ul{
top: 0;
}

/* Sub level menu links style */
.jqueryslidemenu ul li ul li a{
font: normal 12px tahoma;
width: 160px; /*width of sub menus*/
padding: 1px;
margin: 0;
border-top-width: 1;
border-bottom: 1px solid silver;
}

.jqueryslidemenuz ul li ul li a:hover{ /*sub menus hover style*/
background: #eff9ff;
color: black;
}

/* ######### CSS classes applied to down and right arrow images ######### */

Those black boxes are the default line items marking for a sub-sub (i think) items. Remove this 'display: list-item;' or change it to block.

.jqueryslidemenu ul li ul li{
float: none;
}

Walrus,

You were dead on with the phantom black boxes but I have another weird issue with IE after fixing that and taking care of the space issues. Whenever I have sub- sub-menus (3rd level) in IE, the submenu item is whited out until I hover on it. Afterward, it displays correctly but I have to hover over it once. Any ideas?

The new CSS:

.jqueryslidemenu{
font: normal 12px tahoma;
background: #ffffff;
width: 100%;
float: center;
}

.jqueryslidemenu ul{
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
list-style-type: none;
}

/*Top level list items*/
.jqueryslidemenu ul li{
position: relative;
display: inline;
float: left;
margin: 0px;
padding: 0px;
z-index: 100;
}

/*Top level menu link items style*/
.jqueryslidemenu ul li a{
display: block;
background: #ffffff; /*background of tabs (default state)*/
color: white;
padding: 2px 4px;
border-right: 1px solid silver;
border-bottom: 1px solid silver;
color: #2d2b2b;
text-decoration: none;
}

* html .jqueryslidemenu ul li a{ /*IE6 hack to get sub menu links to behave correctly*/
display: inline-block;
}

.jqueryslidemenu ul li a:link, .jqueryslidemenu ul li a:visited{
color: black;
}

.jqueryslidemenu ul li a:hover{
background: white; /*tab link background during hover state*/
color: blue;
}

/*1st sub level menu*/
.jqueryslidemenu ul li ul{
position: absolute;
left: 0;
display: block;
visibility: hidden;
}

/*Sub level menu list items (undo style from Top level List Items)*/
.jqueryslidemenu ul li ul li{

float: left;
}

/*All subsequent sub menu levels vertical offset after 1st level sub menu */
.jqueryslidemenu ul li ul li ul{
top: 0;
}

/* Sub level menu links style */
.jqueryslidemenu ul li ul li a{
font: normal 12px tahoma;
width: 160px; /*width of sub menus*/
padding: 1px;
margin: 0;
border-top-width: 1;
border-bottom: 1px solid silver;
}

.jqueryslidemenuz ul li ul li a:hover{ /*sub menus hover style*/
background: #eff9ff;
color: black;
}

Not sure, I don't have IE. I'd assume it's a hover- order problem but maybe something else. You should post a link and which menu to hover over so someone else with IE can help you though.

Walrus,

I figured it out - while removing the display:list-item got rid of the boxes in FF, it also made the sub menus with sub sub-menus not display in IE until mouse-hover. I added back display:list-item; and list-style: none;. It's working now.
