Does dynamicdrive have a script for a "loading" progress bar, something that appears when the page is being loaded into the browser so the user knows how much longer to wait? I ask because I'm creating a page that contains approximate 4.5MB of images and for some computers it can take a while to download. It would be convenient if the user could be informed that the page is loading and that it will take only so much longer. Is there such a script?

There cannot be a script like this that works automatically: it would need to start with the loading bar as the FULL page, then dynamically load content and track how long it's taking. The progress bar would be inaccurate (but potentially a good rough approximation) even if you do get it setup.
And no, I don't believe there is a script like this.

Loading 4.5mb of images is a really bad idea: load one at a time, using some sort of gallery, and some of those DO have progress bars (or at least "loading" icons).

If you must load something that large, I think you might as well use flash, and flash does have advanced tools for dealing with progress bars, so that would work well.

Look at:

http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex4/preloadimage.htm

or (probably the better choice for what you are asking for):

http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex4/preloadimage2.htm

Both of these are a bit dated. As a result they may not be as cross browser and/or according to w3c standards as one might like. But if you like one of them, it can probably be tweaked if necessary.
