View Full Version : Fibonacci sequence
I thought there were probably enough math geeks hanging around here to enjoy this.
Even if you don't have any idea what's going on, it's still pretty cool.

Interesting visualization. I was certainly a math geek at one time, though it's been a while. I was actually particularly interested in the Fibonacci numbers for a while.
Though I was familiar with the 2-D representations (rectangles), I had never even considered the sequence in three dimensions before (snail shell). enlightening.

Very nice!
It's not just static mathematics. The (philosophical) concept of time is crucial here. '1 cell + 1 cell equals 2 cells' can only be true if there's a time span in which this mathematical operation can 'happen'. The concept of time has always interested me. Is time dependent of things that happen? If so, time is not a primitive notion.

Arie.
Does Nature follow this pattern?
or does the pattern simply describe It?
...and just because we can predict something doesn't mean we understand it.
well, that's my philosophical quota for the week

interesting...
so that's why we need to learn math at school??
God create human, god create math, human create formula, human play like god...:D
human thinks he play like god. foolish human.
