I am using windows media player 11 on windows XP and I am trying to figure out where WMP stores the album art that is displayed when I play an mp3. Supposedly it is stored in "My Music" folder and all I have to do is show hidden files and while the images did show it was only the very small thumbnail images and not the very large ones that display in WMP when the mp3 plays. I was thinking that maybe the files are being accessed via the internet, but even when I disable the internet the images are still there.
Not sure if they are cached, but if they are cached then where would the cached images be?

Somewhere in temporary internet files or in /temp/? It's not going to be easy to find them. (Of course this is if it's caching them, but from what you've said that makes sense.)
Screen capture is probably the easiest way around this. Unless you want to save a lot of them...
I'm sure you can find all of them on a google image search, though.
I'd also suggest looking in "My Pictures". That's where I'd guess it puts them.
But again, all of this is just a guess...

The problem with screen capture is that often times only part of the image is displayed on the windows media player window even when I enlarge the window as much as I can and view in full screen is not available. Finding the image online has been rather unsuccessful and time consuming.
Anyway, I found the answer, which is rather interesting. The images are stored in the mp3 itself. to view it you will need to use some sort of tag editor. I used MP3Tag found here: http://www.mp3tag.de/en/download.html It is freeware. I imagine there are even more basic ways to view the mp3 tag info though.
