Help with changing the banner image!!

Hello,

I am trying to change the banner of a website which is ".jpg" format into a flash file.

At First I thought if I upload the .SWF file into the .JPG directory and then change the name from register.jpg into banner.swf in the header.tpl.php then it will show the banner.swf in the homepage!! But when I changed the register.jpg to banner.swf file and looked at the homepage of the site there was a small squer showing instead of the banner.swf!!

Here is where I changed the name:

in the above code I just changed the regsiter.jpg into banner.swf but the banner.swf didn't show up!



This must be very simple to do but I can't find the way for some reason!

Any help or advise will be much appreciated.

Images use an <img> tag. Flash is NOT an image (even though it's a"picture"). It uses a different type of embedding, either an <embed> or <object> tag, or actually usually BOTH to make it work in most browsers. Nile's information above will help, and there's a lot more information on google (http://www.google.com/search?q=embed+flash+html).

Note: you posted this in PHP for some reason, so I've moved it to HTML where it belongs. (The flash section would be fine too, but since this is about the html code, it's good there.) If this IS related to PHP, explain why and it can be moved back.
