Hi I'm Samantha http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee178/sammacha/AVI2.gifhttp://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee178/sammacha/sammacha-mirrirs-face.gif
I am person who has always enjoyed making stuff, anything really, but I really enjoy drawing the most, its what I do most often and I think I got a lot better in my last few years
I do both digital and traditional art
Semi-realistic, anime,fantasy, and cartoon style art
the above is just what I use for my avatar there a many greater works in my gallery
if your interested in this type of art then please, have a look
All comments and critiques be them good or bad are greatly appreciated as I am always trying to better myself. Please be honest, and thanks to anyone who does have a look I hope you like them ^_^
I am also open to questions about how I did certain techniques, glad to help out if I can
I'm currently working on my website www.Sammacha.com to display my artwork but for now please visit
http://sammacha.deviantart.com/
I try to update this whnever I get a chance but it seems I have been very busy lately :/
Comments on the website are also appreciated but please remeber its still underconstruction
before you get too far along, I'd recommend using css for your layout instead of putting everything in <table>s...
Also, "no right click" is more annoying than useful. As you can see, it didn't slow me down at all, nor will it stop anyone else if they really want to see something. But it does slow down your normal, honest visitors.

WOW! you did that the hard way!!
ha ha yes I too know its super easy to steal the images
you dont even have to use print screen anymore you can just use the cutting tool or the snapshot tool or whatever you want ha ha nothing is safe!
I know its annoying but honestly I have no idea why anyone would need to right click on my page anyways O-o
hmm yes I suppose I could do a Css layout instead of using tables, the only thing is that i'm not too familiar with doing it and I have yet to really try :/
thanks for the advice

I know its annoying but honestly I have no idea why anyone would need to right click on my page anyways O-oLots of reasons, many that cannot be predicted. For example, when someone here wants to help you with a problem, it's slower to get to view source because right click is disabled, etc.
In short, the web is as-is, and trying to work around that will just make your page less useful and probably less visited.

Actually, I just turned off javascript for a few seconds and right-clicked. :) Read more.

Look at some of the css layouts (http://www.dynamicdrive.com/style/layouts/) here on DD. And a single, centered column is very easy anyway:
page.html
<html>
<head>
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="stylesheet.css">
</head>
<body>
<div id="singlecolumn">
<!-- Put all your content in here. -->
</div>
</body>
</html>
stylesheet.css
#singlecolumn{
width: 760px; /* define a width or it won't work. you could use a percentage also. */
margin: 0 auto; /* then, this centers it */
}

I guess thats one good reason, and Yes I know the web is like the wild west rigth now but you really think disabling the right click annoys people who are going there to look at the artwork that much (and I mean if they arent stealing it). I mean they could just go to my source folder if they really wanted to so I guess your right saying that its simply just another annoyance to people.
I'm pretty sure you can tell that I have never had a real web page before, thanks for all the help and advice ^_^

Yes I figured that since you saved the whole thing, I do however find it much easier to use the snipping tool, then you just get the image you wanted rather then the whole thing Bg included

Thanks I will have to havea look at that, ha ha I'm still so new to this, I really do appreciate your feedback thanks :)
Wait... So am I actually better off using a CSS menu rather then a Java script menu?
I did see the very similar Multi menu CSS here: http://www.dynamicdrive.com/style/csslibrary/item/jquery_multi_level_css_menu_2/
which they do have avliable in javascript, I just liked the smooth menu better : http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex1/ddsmoothmenu.htm
but can you fetch CSS from an external file like you can java?
But now I have too many questions... Sorry -__-' so much for a thread about drawings huh.... O_o
javascript is fine, as long as it "degrades": meaning it will still look nice -or at the very least, will still work- if javascript is turned off. Most menus are <ul> based, so as long as you have actual urls in the anchor links, you should be fine. I use the DDsmoothmenu quite often, it's really slick.
but can you fetch CSS from an external file like you can java?
I assume you mean "javascript"?
But anyway, yes, your css can be saved in an external file. It's actually best to do so. Link to it in your page's <head> section:
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="stylesheet.css">
About your concern over thieves (I figured that was why): just post sample (low-res) images, or include a watermark. If someone is unable to save your pic to their computer, then in a few weeks (say, after their paycheck comes in?) they're that less likely to remember that they were thinking about buying it.

So why is this in the Images Gallery Board?

(and I mean if they arent stealing it)What? If they like your art and want to make it their desktop background? If they're re-selling it, they'll get around your "security" anyway. Those who are just fans will kindly try to right click and be confused when their browser is 'broken' viewing your site, and find a new one. Remember, nice visitors are casual; mean visitors (thieves, whatever) are knowledgable and hard working-- they'll find a way to steal it; nice visitors won't bother to find a way to stay if they're confused by your site.
It's completely up to you...
I'm pretty sure you can tell that I have never had a real web page before, thanks for all the help and advice ^_^If you figure all of this out with your first site, you're ahead of the curve. Any new designer thinks there are ways around the norms of the web, but with experience it turns out there really aren't, or at least it takes a LOT and probably with a lot of consequences to really get around anything when it is possible (which is rare). One main aspect of the web is that it IS connected-- it's a web. And that means everyone is connected for better or worse. Understand that, and everything is fairly straightforward.
So why is this in the Images Gallery Board?
well, originally, she was sharing her artwork. we just kinda took her off on a tangent.

I was planning to have a page striclty for people to download stuff from but I dont have it up yet

very true. I am really hoping to have user friendly site by the time I launch it. Its not like I have a strict deadline, or a lot of free tiem either :/

Uh well yeah, I guess, but if you ask me its common sense! I knew this the day I first posted an image on the internet. Anything you put in, someone can get out

O I see, great that will help a lot, thank you!

wow traq, usually people think I am a guy lol ^_^
Yeah I started this thread mainly to talk about my artwork which I posted a sample of and a link to my artwork http://sammacha.deviantart.com/
I am also hoping to use my website as my main gallery soon instead of DA so I put a link to it as well
There are also some peices of art on the website that arent avaliable on DA such as http://www.sammacha.com/gallery/Tutorials/index.html where you can actually watch how I drew the picture and colored in using a graffiti thing on facebook, kindda cool thing to add to the tutorials that I will eventually have up there (hopefully :/ )
I thought some people might want to check it out just for fun and they could leave a comment or two about my art and or my website.
Sorry if this is now in the wrong place, if you need to move it thats fine.:cool:
a guy named "Samantha"? :p
seriously though, if you were a guy, this:
O I see, great that will help a lot, thank you!
