I have been using Smart Ftp Client for the past 5 years to upload files for my site(non commercial).
Smart ftp has recently announced that it will no longer provide free service.
I would appreciate if anyone could recommend free and reliable ftp client.

Also, do I need to re-upload all my files which have already been uploaded using Smart Ftp when I use another Ftp Client ?

Many thanks.

I can't imagine why you would need to re upload all of those files to your site. They are on your site.

For the most part I like to use the one I created, but sometimes I go back and use fireftp (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/684), which is a firefox addon.

I also briefly used filezilla (http://filezilla-project.org/), which is not an addon and works independently of browsers. It worked fine, but I guess I just liked fireftp better. Fireftp is so good that I can't imagine how it could be better.

I suspect you will get several more suggestions to your question before too long.

P.S. The one I created for my site is pretty simple, but I made it so I also know what it is doing and what security measures it uses. It also seems to be faster than the others, because mine is very simple, but I like it :)

I've been using FileZilla for a few years. It's very easy and reliable.

Not to be confused with Filezilla (which I used for a while and was generally ok but sometimes buggy, though maybe fixed now), I use FireFTP, a plugin for firefox that should work on all systems (I think), and it's convenient since I always have firefox open and it's reliable. It's in no way fancy, but very stable and usable.

I recommend FileZilla. No bugs that I've noticed.
