Laptop to display PP and DVD through projector

I need a laptop to display Powerpoint Presentation and show a DVD movie on my laptop through an external projector.
I would appreciate if someone could advise if the following NOTEBOOK which is currently on sale for Aus$793 would meet my requirements?

Every time Microsoft releases a new operating system, it seems like that makes most computers obsolete.

By releasing a new system that requires more minium ram, processing, etc., and has more underlying processing, the end result is that any computer will run slower.

So be aware of buying a "minimum requirements" laptop.

While that laptop will be just fine for using powerpoint and playing DVDs (no question), the problem might be processing two screens at the same time.

However, it should not be particularly bad and at least capable if you aren't doing anything else on the computer. It should be just fine, considering my netbook can run an external projector sometimes (it's jumpy and can crash the system, but it generally runs ok).

So, yes, I think that computer is fine. You probably could get a cheaper one, even.

I use vlc player. I would say that is it one of the best media players out there with its light-weight design and customizable interface. I used it for quite a white and it never had any bugs or crashes. Check out the Vlc player download (http://www.downloadvlcplayer.org/) page if interested :)
