Personal hosting = Shared hosting

I have seen some guys talking about personal hosting and shared hosting as the same...Really do you agree with that..There is no difference...

I had one shared account and one not shared, it wasn't called personal but I think it's the same. The shared one went down on me much more, the host said the other shared accounts were bringing it down. I'd say go with the personal, should be more stable might cost a bit more.
