I am planning on buying a DELL Poweredge server and host my website on it myself. When i was about to order the server from DELL, there is an option for Windows 2008 Server CALs and MS SQL Server CALs. I started researching more on this CALs but could not get a straight forward answer to my questions. Here are my questions -
1. If i host my website do i need to buy server and database CALs for all the users who access my website? My website is built on ASP.NET and uses MS SQL database.
2. The server which i am planning to buy is a 2 x quad core - do i need to buy a license for each of the processor (or) I already have a genuine never used microsoft license for 2008 server and SQL server (1 each) - will this do.
Would be great if you can also post a link or a thread explaning more on this.
