Is this true regarding dhtml and object, iframes, etc?

I recently tested the jdsomenu menu found on the site. The problem was that I could never get the submenu to display over an iframe and a flash object.

After researching I found this:

It basically states most DHTML is windowless where objects and iframes are windowed and windowed items always display over windowless.

By reading this, it appears basically I could not get this menu to display over the windowed items no matter hor I cut it.

Is this true or does anyone know of a workaround?

That link explains how to fix a flash object to work as you desire, the short version is to add in this language to your object/embed tag:

Add the following parameter to the OBJECT tag:

<param name="wmode" value="transparent">

Add the following parameter to the EMBED tag:

wmode="transparent"

As for an iframe, you should be able to set both the menu and the iframe's position to either relative or absolute. Many menus are already one or the other. Then set the menu's z-index higher than the iframe's:

<iframe style="position:relative;" other iframe attributes go here></iframe>(Default z-index is zero)

although macromedia recommends using "transparent" for the WMODE, I prefer to use "OPAQUE" instead as some times, you don't want it to be transparent. ;)
