I have a centered single-column fixed-width layout and for some reason it always shows up with the tile background only going down so far and padding is not working.

Originally I had made my own layout, but then after seeing the problem, I just googled css layouts and loaded one into style.css (http://viraltwitteertreasure.com/style.css) that claimed to CSS valid, yet I am still having the problems, so obviously it has something to do with using padding/margin and DIVS. I found a missing </div> in my XHTML but that dident change the situation.
The site is getting an average 500 unique visitors a day so if somebody could help me I would appreciate it to infinity :)

your over lay is annoying when trying to use firebug. i think it's cause your content div ends before it but am not sure cause the content changes when i'm trying to view it

Have you run it through the w3c validator?
That could correct some issues.
Not to get off topic, but it takes a while to load. Make "privatemembersarea.jpg" into html text, or a gif. Same with "younowhaveprivateaccess.jpg". & "bodybg.jpg" should be a gif instead.
I'm using Safari 4, and it looks fine. What's the issue?
If you could post a screenshot of the issue, that would be helpful.

Oh, and the </p> at line 62 isn't ending anything. Safari is converting it to <p></p>, and that's messing things up.

Ideally it is supposed to look like this-

The only browser that I am using is IE 7, but some of my affiliates have said that some of the text alignment on the affiliate page (http://viraltwittertreasure.com/affiliatetools.php?name=Jack+Bauer&pp=jackbauer@24hours.com&x=96&y=19) is merging into the edge of the left side of the column and that the background image for said column only tiles down 25% of of the page length even though it is 'repeat-y'.
I am using college campus computer since my laptop was stolen a few months back so I used www.browsershots.org and found this to be true.
The CSS comes up as valid (http://tinyurl.com/lkxc2f), I am getting a bunch of irrelevent xhtml errors with the xhtml validator though
And I dont see why the page would have a long load-time, there are about 100kb of graphics on that page, I will probably change to header(s) to traditional html, but because of the industry this site is targeted for, heavy graphic usage is almost a must; Which I am surprised I could even do considering I don't have photoshop or anything else
