1) Script Title: Ajax Tabs Content Script

2) Script URL (on DD): http://dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex17/ajaxtabscontent/index.htm

3) Describe problem: I use the script for multiple and often reload of data. By now, i reload every 12 seconds data by the script. For that reason, the conection from the script will not be destroyed. With more than 1800 users at hte same time, apache gets a problem by handling the open connections.

Is it possible to destroy the connection after geting the data?

I may be wrong on this, but how many requests the server keeps alive is set on the server side (ie: inside httpd.config), and cannot be done using JavaScript. In other words, this really is a server side issue, not Ajax.

thanks for your answer. Yes we know, the server-configuration is one possible way to optimize it. But i thought it would be better to destroy the connection after recieving the data. So we can set the ressources free when they will not longer be needed.

Otherwise the connection will be destroyed after the server-timeout. By deault 15 seconds is confiured in apache. If i refresh the data faster than 15 secondes, the connection will never be destroyed. That's my problem.
