drop-down menu tab questions

1. How to you get the drop-down menu to be a picture
2. I'm using the drop-down menu tab code I got online here with the halfmoon option. Sometimes, the first menu tab is showing the background-color even when the mouse is not hovering on it. When I hover to the second menu tab, both the first and second menu tabs are the same background color.
