Script Title: Pausing up-down Scroller and Cross browser Marquee script

Script URL: http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex2/crosstick.htm and http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex2/cmarquee.htm

Okay, this is an odd one. I've been working on a site that uses both the Cross Browser Marquee and Pausing Up-Down Scroller scripts here (http://www.idlireland.com). All was working fine, the guy I'm doing it for was happy but then I broke the golden rule of web designers - I took something that weren't broke and :p:eek::cool:ed with it... I wasn't happy with the way the site was looking (client interference) and did some redesign so it looks like it does now. Only now the guy is saying that neither the marquee or scrollers are working for him - the marquee doesn't work at all, and the scrollers only start if you move your mouse over them.

Here's the odd thing, I've checked on my PC (Windows XP, IE8, Firefox and Opera) and they all work fine as far as I can see! The client is on Vista, not sure which version of IE, probably 7 or 8 and as you can imagine it's hard fixing a bug when you can't see it for yourself!!!

I've got a semi-backup of the old site design (looks a bit messy as it's half-modified) HERE (http://www.avalyn.co.uk/idlirelandbak/) and the client says that both marquee and scrollers work okay for him on this old version.

The only difference between old and new is that the old version is 100% page width, and the new version is centralised with limited width, and the content and header are contained in DIVs, so I can't for the life of me think what the problem is!

Oh yeah, another oddity - the old (working) version actually has an incorrect DOCTYPE defined, so if anything it should be this that doesn't work. I've tried changing the DOCTYPE, but it makes no difference to the non-working version.

Any ideas?

Right, update - I've identified the problem with the marquee scroller, I had it contained within a DIV that it obviously objected to, and by forcing the page to emulate IE7 I've managed to get it to break - so at least I can SEE what the problem is now.

I still have this problem where the Pausing Up-Down Scrollers stall, either at the start or after one "scroll". I noticed that it actually does this in the backup too.
