:o Hi. First hi to everybody, I'm quite embarrassed to be asking but I've worked up the courage to ask:
I dream of having my personal website look something like this: http://www.ixaarii.com/2d/gallery/iXaarii%20site%20concept.html
i am told that is very hard. I searched the internet for any kind of solutions that would be similar to the point where i could maybe have a chance to tweak them but didn't see anything in that direction. Seeing some of the awesome stuff on this website I thought maybe somebody here might have seen something...

I'm guessing that particular image squeezing "algorithm" i did there must be hard but maybe there is some kind of javascript that would just take a list of nonequal image thumbnails and be able to place them on a page in any fashion except not rows/column, be it randomlike or some other pattern. If that were possible then there would be more thumbs on a high res monitor/bigger browser window. The reason I was thinking nonequal was because I thought maybe there could be a way of dynamically giving the images grades/numbers associated to change in relevance (though now i realize that's too much to dream of).

Thank you for your patience & for the awesome stuff you've put on this website!

Set yourself up with a Wordpress blog (http://wordpress.com/) and use the Grid-a-licious (http://www.changethethought.com/grid-a-licious/) theme. It'll do almost everything you want, plus more. It'll be easy to manage as well.

thank you so very much. i notice reformrevolution.com which is said to be done like that (so it could be on my own domain, not just wordpress) also scales very well to a large number of images. The downside would be that columns are visible but at least thei increase with browser width so it looks random enough. thank you!

Yeah, there are a ton of blogs that use that template. It's kind of getting old now, but I still think it looks nice.

My personal favorite use of it is on CreativeDepart (http://www.creativedepart.com/) and Michael Paul Young's site (http://www.michaelpaulyoung.com/).

they look awesome! Do you think that could be used together with the autohide menus here http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex1/davidmenu.htm ?
