e-commerce recommendations??

hi,

I'm new here, but love this site. Don't know whether this is the right forum for this.

I'm just starting out and have a couple of sites under my belt, a friend of mine would like me to attempt a e-commerce site for him (he's paying me a little bit for my effort). Is there a good, secure, easy to implement, e-commerce solution you would recommend for a beginner?

I know xhtml/css and little bit of incorporating xml through dreamweaver.
