Hi.

My webhost (free web space) adds an advertising popup javascript to my index page above the doctype which makes it invalid HTML.

<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
window.open('http://www.gmx.net/cgi/hpad','ptOPsmtuKSsno','width=488,height=50');
</SCRIPT>

Also this script interferes with another script on that page.

Is there a way to fix this?

I contacted the webhost but didn't got a reply.

Hopefully someone here here can help.

Thanks in advance,

sretep

Best answer I can think of is why are you with this host? Placing ads on your site is one thing, and not replying to your emails would be the icing on the cake for me...

.......this is free of charge webspace which is included having an e-mail account with this provider (also free of charge).

Since the website which is hosted on this server is a non-commercial one I think free webspace is the right choice and most people have a popup blocker anyway.

Still I would like to create the website in valid HTML and CSS but with this javascript on the index page it can't be done.

That's why I asked if there is a way to fix this.......
