Can someone help with a horizontal menu using different images?

Thanks for trying to help. My problem is I would like to use an unordered list to make my main menu of 4 buttons. I have the list stripped of padding, margins and the button spacing is set correctly. the problem is every tutorial I can find uses the same background. In my button set each button has a different amount of circles next to it.

Now the button is 100x60 and I have images that are 300x60 so that they are roll over and selected ready. I just don't know how to assign a different background to each button. Any suggestions would be great or links to tutorials.
