As some of you might know, IE8.1 will be out this summer and it is a Huge improvement from the current version of IE. IE8.1 has a bunch of new awesome features such as support for Firefox add-ons (Firebug, Web Developer, etc, yeah!), multiple browser rendering engine options. IE8.1 also does a lot better on the Acid3 test and has much better support for CSS3! Microsoft should have done this a long time ago, but better late than never. If you want more info about this, take a look at this article:

Wow, I just can't wait for IE8.1, finally, Microsoft is back in the game! Happy April Fools!

I think Microsoft has caused too many web developers misery for too long, more than 6 years of IE6 is just unacceptable. I can never forgive them for this and will stick to firefox thank you very much.

Can it fry an egg?
I did think something was a bit fishy, especially after I read the caption on the JS engine speed graph:
* Graph created with MS Excel to showcase Microsoft's greatness in the software marketThe algorithm for Mixx was quite odd too :D

I think maybe they have, they're just trying to pretend that they're not phased by it :D (BUT THEY ARE!!)

I'd never heard of it and now that I have, I still think it's pretty funny, the vid, and its apparently devoted viral propagators, great stuff. But I fail to see what it has to do with IE 8.1 - though I suppose that's the point. And at least you got the date right.
Happy April Fools to All!

Hehe, well, that's the point :D
You can take a look at this video, it explains how rickrolling works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmPmIJyi0sc (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmPmIJyi0sc)
This one is legit, you have my word.

Well you guys seemed to have handled it pretty well, it really loses the effect if you're not familiar with it lol. Some people who get rickrolled get really annoyed - but it was sort of obvious since it is April Fool's :p

On a side note, does anyone know how long we have to wait for the release of Fx3.1 (or 3.5 or whatever they call it)? Now that is a .1 version I'm excited about. That one really does have better CSS3 support and does well on the acid test and it even supports Firefox add-ons :D

Well, at (currently afaik) 3.0.8, they will soon have to go to a deeper subversion (pun intended) to avoid 3.1, or (as has often been their habit) 4.
In fairness to MS over this IE 8.1 business (hilarious). Some of those touted features (the ones that are actually possible), or ones much like them are already included in IE 8.
Incidentally, hasn't anyone noticed that MS no longer goes in for subversions with its browser. Starting with 6, there haven't been any points. I'm not such a big fan of MS software to know whether they are doing this with the rest of their programs or not. But I think they learned long ago (rightly or wrongly) not to use point anything, at least not with certain types of software.

Sort of, the browser does show the blue/red copies, but if you try to print out the glasses, they don't work lol :p
Lol, I know. I'm making my own with 2 spoons and permanent markers.

Minor upgrades are included with each Windows service pack. Anything bigger than a bugfix, though, gets its own major version — probably for publicity purposes.

Well, yes.
However, they have been doing updates on the sly, as explained here:
http:/www/msupdates.com/ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUQAxRvvHqw)
Interesting. Is that the new Windows start-up sound? I for one would welcome it.

The graph says that Google Chrome was slower than a bunch of browsers, and in fact it is the fastest. Very funny, though. :D
