Keeping 'ON' state while on submenu

Hello!

I've created a navbar with submenus using Fireworks.

Everything works great - the top level are buttons (on and off states) and the submenus are in CSS.

My question is, how can I keep the top level button 'ON' as the user goes down the submenu?

I found how to do this if the top level was text (CSS) but not graphics.

Any assistance would be MOST appreciated...thank you!
