CSS popup image viewer

works GREAT in firefox, perfect, just like i want. but in IE7, the larger images do not appear.

it seems that the 'popups', in ie, are appearing 'inside' the box that contains the thumbnail image. only on ie.

so i'm getting cut-off popups if i make the distance very small on the offset.

any ideas/input?
