Hey There,

I just recently redesigned the site, and I was wondering what people think of it. I know all my friends will say "Wow That's Great!" even if it is terrible... :p

So I'm asking the public - what do you think of it?

Any feedback would be very much appreciated!

Thanks,
//X96 WD

Nice... It's a little big. Lemme take a screen shot of it and edit it to what I think will make it look better. :)

Ok, I changed the navigation a little bit:

Also everything could be a little smaller.

Okay, Thanks!

I'll make a few changes - thanks Nile!

Okay, I edited the menu, you can see it in action on my site (http://x96webdesign.tech.officelive.com)
Thanks Again!

Working on the bigness factor...

Use php for the menus...
(I'll se what I can do)

Looks like you got it. ;) Now take the pixel pop for the active tab, and turn it into something like just a black line (the one to the left of the active tab).

Ok, do it to both actually. :D

I'm not quite sure what a "pixel pop" is... Can you tell me?

Sorry if I'm not up to snuff on this stuff...

Thanks,
X

Its the lines that pop out next to the links.

The proportions are awkward. Everything would benefit with a little more padding to the left, I think.

I bumped the logo over 10px, and the content over about 3px, did that help?

Cheers,

I'd say move the logo over about 60px;

I just centered the logo, did that help any?

Your site is broken in IE. If you're serious about making some money off of your services, I would fix that. I wouldn't hire a developer who didn't know the basics of browser compliance.

add: I see you have a little notice on the side of your site about this. I'd still reiterate what I mentioned above. The fact that you're incapable of making it work in IE would probably cause you quite a few jobs.

Yeah, I didn't notice the IE defects until about a week ago, and I think I've worked out most of the bugs...

I'll work on the red menu offline, for now I put up the old menu.

And I fixed where the content clears the sidebar. It seems to work in IE 5.5-8. Tell me if you spot anything that I missed!

Cheers,
X96

Just a quick thing I noticed, I'm not sure if you're just focusing on the index page, but when I clicked on any of the other pages there was a gap above the header, whereas there is no gap on the front page.

If you're not currently focusing on those parts of the site then it doens't really matter, but if you are it's a quick simple fix.

I like it. The top image could use a little more design. The fonts on that image are very basic. But thats my opinion and there is nothing professional about my opinion haahhaha

Yeah, the "logo" has been passed down since probably the first ever site I made...

Consider it done. Check the site for the updated logo...

In IE you mean? It doesn't seem to be appearing in Firefox...

I really need to stop redesigning the site... I think I have A.D.D. :D

How's it look now?

I improved the logo from my old 2-D White, boring, not creative, text logo, to this shiny one.

It's just IE <6 doesn't display the transparency, so the header and menu look like junk. (I know there's scripts to fix this out there somewhere...)

Looks sleek :)

Just a few things:

The background image in the header, (the blue light thing) is absolute, and doesn't move around with the rest of the image. On my screen it's just to the right of the "X96" bit.

Only other thing is you should add some sort of rollover effect for the menu links, like maybe the background of the menu link goes a different colour, or the text, just something to make it stand out that you've moused over a specific link.

Hope that provides some helpful feedback.

Take a look at this tutorial:

Good luck!

@Schmoopy: The blue supernova is supposed to be just beside the X96... Should I change that?
EDIT: And I also added a hover for the menu items - any better? (Thanks for the feedback BTW)

@Snookerman: Thanks! I'll get right on deploying the script!
EDIT: The script is a big success! Works perfectly, just the logo positions to absolute, but that's fine... Thanks Again! :)

You're welcome, glad to help you!

Good luck with the site!

The new rollovers for the menu look much better.

What I meant about the blue supernova was that if I resize my screen it stays in the same place, so if I resize my browser, the supernova can end up under the "Web" text, it's not a big problem just thought you should be aware of it.

You've done a good job though :)

I actually think the design is good. I just think there is one thing I would change. Your telling people that if they find a cheaper price you'll do the site for free. I think that could be a mistake. You don't want to end up doing a site for free because I know just how much work it is. I too am going to be getting into doing some basic site design but not going to make any statement like that. Instead I might put something like just check around and see if anyone even comes close to our prices.

Well that's it, that's all I got to say. Hope that just gives you something to think about. After all you don't want to do a thousand page site for free because there is always someone willing to out do and top the next person.

Good point robin9000... I changed it so it says "If you find a better price, we'll beat it by 25%".

And even if I had to design a huge site for free, I probably would :D.

@Schmoopy: Okay... I see what you mean with the light thing... It doesn't matter much to me, but thanks for pointing that out!
