Take over? I think not. I think Google's market share in search-related technologies is analogous to Microsoft's hold on the operating system (and by extension, internet browser) spaces. In other markets (mobile, video, etc...) there is plenty of competition and I don't see Google having an inherent advantage there.

I doubt that Google will COMPLETELY take over. However, Google, in my eyes, beats many other things, and if it doesn't, it makes people think that it does. This could mean that Google's popularity will increase IMMENSELY because some people THINK that it's best. I'm not saying that Google's popularity hasn't increased, 'cause it has (;)), and I'm also not saying that other companies, such as Yahoo, will be forgotten. I just think that people will lean toward Google a bit more. Or a lot more. :D

Google has creditability. That's why people pay attention when they do something. I think your estimation that their popularity will increase "immensely" is a bit unreasoned. Again, except for the search and web-based advertising, I don't see Google as being a market leader. Certainly, their tools will be used as part of a wider tool set, but not to the point where you can call it THE dominant player in a particular technology space.
The one exception could be Google Earth. Gmail might be a second if you segment the email space into personal and commercial/business.

I use nothing but Google. If I and future generations keep the same mentallity then Google has a good chance of becoming the dominte player if it is not already. I don't know that it will ever completly take over but I think it may get to the point where all that's left is Google and Yahoo. The two top dogs.
