Well I dont get it. I still see an email address when I cursor over the link or when I click on it. How does this prevent spamming?

That's the point. The link is still usable (on JS-supporting browsers) but the source of the page doesn't contain the email address. This means that it is harder for spambots (which don't tend to support JS) to get your email address whilst trawling for addresses. You might also want to link to spampoison.com somewhere on your site. See the site for details.

Yup, it's much easier to get the source than to render it.
