Hi

I've been working on a simple BB editor and I've hit a snag with IE. The editor I believe works on everything but IE but unfortunatly I havnt the foggiest where to start. Can someone point out the replacements as I get different answers when searching the web.

Or...

Can anyone suggest a similar editor that will give me equal features ( I do like the preview window I made so would like to keep that option), I would also require a way to manipulate the BB tags as I use some custom ones.

I'm going crazy as I trying to learn how to do things the correct way and I hit the problem of needing to know the IE way every time. Nothin makes sense :crazy: :crying:

My editor can be found here http://www.glenday.co.uk/

This is a BB editor script so some things may conflict with Dynamic drives' BB editor.... so you can right click "save link as" on here (http://www.glenday.co.uk/Editor.js) - its the script below from the website

var GPath;
var selectionText;

var EditorPresetColours = new Array('#000000','#202020','#404040','#808080','#C0C0C0','#FFFFFF',
'#400000','#800000','#C00000','#FF4040','#FF8080','#FFC0C0',
'#404000','#808000','#C0C000','#FFFF40','#FFFF80','#FFFFC0',
'#004000','#008000','#00C000','#40FF40','#80FF80','#C0FFC0',
'#004040','#008080','#00C0C0','#40FFFF','#80FFFF','#C0FFFF',
'#000040','#000080','#0000C0','#4040FF','#8080FF','#C0C0FF',
'#400040','#800080','#C000C0','#FF40FF','#FF80FF','#FFC0FF',
'#402D00','#805A00','#C08800','#FFC741','#FFDA81','#FFEDC1');

var ImagesArray = new Array(GPath+'Graphix/Editor/up_bold.jpg',GPath+'Graphix/Editor/dn_bold.jpg',
GPath+'Graphix/Editor/up_italic.jpg',GPath+'Graphix/Editor/dn_italic.jpg',
GPath+'Graphix/Editor/up_underline.jpg',GPath+'Graphix/Editor/dn_underline.jpg',
GPath+'Graphix/Editor/up_left.jpg',GPath+'Graphix/Editor/dn_left.jpg',
GPath+'Graphix/Editor/up_centre.jpg',GPath+'Graphix/Editor/dn_centre.jpg',
GPath+'Graphix/Editor/up_right.jpg',GPath+'Graphix/Editor/dn_right.jpg',
...

... I had to shorten this as I got the error when trying to submit
"The text that you have entered is too long (18499 characters). Please shorten it to 10000 characters long." WHATS IS THE POINT OF THAT!!!! :eek::eek:

Anyway, help needed with selector ranges for IE as they don't work.

I'd recommend going to the address supplied above and use IE to just edit the some text and you will see the problem. It's a little hard to explain and I have no idea why it does what it does. I'm fairly sure it's not a complicated issue but I need direction.

I cant find any kind of debugging program for IE7, I downloaded M$'s developer toolbar but I cant get it to work. (It loads on the bottom part of the screen but there doesnt seem to be any option to highlight the code that failed... line numbers dont add up from the generic error handler)

Ahhghghgh :confused:

Cheers :D
