Complete newbie needs button help!

I did a search and read many of the results and I didn't see this issue in here.

I made a button, actually, I have made a menu bar, deleted it and tried again about 30 times. When I make my buttons and I add text to them they look great. however, when I test the swf and I rollover the buttons, the text part of the button doesn't work.

I have the "over" state taking the brightness up 20%, and that works, as long as I'm not over the text.

I was following this tutorial on youtube, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VHVYWcNitq4)
but I'm not looking to make the dropdown part. I only want to have the menubar.

Every way I've tried it, whenever I roll over the text part of the button, it acts like I went off the button completely. What am I missing?

I'm sure it has to be something simple, but I'm a flash noob. I'm using CS3 and I tried to upload my fla file so you could check it out, but it won't let me upload it. Hopefully someone can help. This menu bar is the only thing holding me back from launching my website!

What kind of text field did you make it? It might be dynamic I've had that problem with that; try switching it to static. Why won't your site let you put up the fla that might be a problem...not with your flash but site.

Try uploading your .fla to a site like mediafire (http://www.mediafire.com/) and then just post the link here. You're allowed to post .fla files here but yours might be above the size limit.

The OP was talking about this site (in my reading anyway). The FLA is probably about the file size limits.
