I am wondering whether I should go with
- http://www.stilbuero.de/jquery/tabs_3/nested.html
- or with Ajaxtabs

I already work with jQuery but don't need jQueryUI. I am looking for a lightweight solution. Does anybody have a suggestion? Thank you!

Lightweight? Go with Ajaxtabs. However, as script libraries go, jQuery is one of, if not the lightest. So a script using jQuery will not be too bloated. If other code on your site already uses the jQuery library, it would already be required, so would be nothing to worry about.

Also, jQuery may be compressed. Many folks opt for the pack method when doing so. However, there is a degradation in reading the packed file, even though it is usually the smallest in byte size. Using the jsmin method, although not producing the smallest file, is faster because browsers don't have to spend any additional time interpreting the code.

Thank you John! I will use the jQuery tabs although it will be more code (10.2 kb vs. 4kb)
