Now click on the picture on the right. The image should takeover the page, so to speak; and you can still see the original page because the background is only shaded.

I've tried looking for a tutorial/script on DynamicDrive, but I could't find it.

So can somebody please help me? I'd really appreciate it!

Lightbox Image Viewer (http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex4/lightbox2/index.htm) is what you are looking for. There are other variations of this such as "Lightbox Gone Mad" or "Thickbox", but the one in the link provided is the Lightbox script I linked to in this post.
