View Full Version : Favorite "Find"
Hey, in this thread you can post which find function you like the most.
I personally think that Safari's is awesome, after that would come Chrome then Firefox. What about you guys?

I don't have Safari, what's so great / different about the find function in that compared to FF?
What Safari does that is so great that it:
1) Has a search window at the top(like a bar) and you type in your search.
2) Then in kind of a fading way it highlights all the results.
Heres a really quick swoof file I made, it will take a while to load + it has very bad graphics.
http://localhostr.com/files/c933d3/safari.swf btw: You will not be able to see the fade in this one.

I like the find and highlight syntax when using find in notepad++ does that count?

Yea notepad++ is absolutely great for highlighting / editing, like once I had put like 50 <br> tags in a page, and wanted the page to validate, so had to change them all to <br/>, but using notepad++'s find and replace saved me loads of time :D

50 <br> tags? How about using margins & padding, buddy? lol
I don't really have a favorite "find" functionality in a browser. As long as it gets the job done...that's all that matters (to me).
What I have a greater issue with is searching from within the browser and bookmarklets. I've recently switched to use Inman's Shortwave (http://shortwaveapp.com/). Let me tell ya, a huge life saver.

Safari's is by far the best looking and most functional imo, but my fav browser is still FF. Maybe there's an add-on that fixes the find function for FF?

Thanks! I checked out that one but it's not exactly the same, it shows the results in an area below the search bar. I found another one that acts like the Safari find, however, it's still a bit "buggy":

If I'm not mistaking the Safari find on a Mac computer is WAY cooler! Lol.
