Creating online tutorials/demos

We are trying to pitch a project
I want to find out how to create a demo using the same tech lee Brimlow uses at gotoandlearn.com

Right now we are using Adobe captivate.
I don't know if you can export it to Mp3 or avi format which would be helpfull.
Also doing the audio track in one take is less than fun.

It would be great if we record our audio in multiple takes, edit it and combine it with our on screen demo and export it to .avi or mp3 and bring it into flash.

so far we need Captivate to do the screen capture part -becuase filming a screen provides poor results.

SO my question is are there any workarounds in captivate or is there any better software or method for getting a screen capture for a demo.


Any suggestions?

I do video demos for our clients all the time. It's easier for me to record myself performing a certain action (and describing it at the same time) than to write out a whole explanation. Clients find it easier too.

When recording on a Windows machine, I use Camtasia Studio (http://www.techsmith.com/camtasia.asp). On a Mac, I use a combination of Screenflow (http://www.flip4mac.com/screenflow.htm)and Mousepose (http://www.boinx.com/mousepose/overview/).

They're not free, but fairly reasonably priced. I find them to be much more powerful than some of the other free and commercial products out there.
