Can I get some of you kind folks to go to my test site: http://www.defossesdesign.com/mockups/box/ and see if the javascript is rendering the embedded fonts?
I'm testing TypefaceJS: http://typeface.neocracy.org/fonts.html
Looks promising, if it actually works, that is.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Awesome!
Now go find some more fonts for it, hahah.
Those 5 that are up there are all that worked out of about 30 I tested.
Totally frustrating.

I get nothing when I use IE8 beta 2 latest version) and the fonts all look the same in Opera 9.62 (latest version). In FireFox 3.0.3 (latest version) the fonts look great though.

Menu has wrong background in IE6:2204

Thanks for FB.
I sent the creator of it an email, but haven't gotten a response.
He doesn't have a forum or blog, either, so no community action on it.
Seams like this is something that could be pretty slick, if all the bugs get worked out.

flir (http://facelift.mawhorter.net/) (aka. Facelift) uses a similar technique but works in all browsers that I've tested in. It might not work in IE6.
It's worked will all of the typefaces that I've tried.

Facelift isn't working in Opera.
Actually, there is a documented way to get it to work in Opera. The syntax is slightly different. I don't know why the guy hasn't updated the main page. Regardless, I've been able to get it to work in Opera.

If possible, details or a link to instructions please.

I take it back.... TypefaceJS is my pick.
I'm not much of a coder, and don't have the time for either Facelift or SIFR, both take way to long to set up, and way to long to tweak. I'd rather just make an image in Photoshop and put that up than spend the time with either of those over-complicated messes.
TypefaceJS is quick and easy. Good enough until font embedding is brought into CSS.

Well, I'm not really familiar with any of these methods. However, it stands to reason that they all add overhead to the page(s) that use them. I know that with today's broadband access this is often unnoticeable, or at least negligible. But if you are targeting the widest possible audience, it will include many who are still on dial-up. So there is a decision to be made there. I would ask myself, "Can't I make the page look OK without resorting to custom fonts?"
Now, you may only be targeting high end users. In that case, it's probably fine.
I mention this though because in some of the actual work that I do, I target all users (units selling for $25.00 or less). So we want everyone to be able to use the pages.
