Are you making money with your website? Oh, no I don't need to know how much :). And I'm not talking about Adsense either. I'm thinking about affiliate programs. And I like to use imagemaps. Has anyone done some measurement on the effectiveness on text links or image links?
Thanks in advance.

I don't know about AdSense. Who really clicks those ads? I never have!
We (my design/dev firm) have created websites that make a lot in ad revenue though. The ads are through ad networks (http://www.federatedmedia.net/)(example). Of course, this is out of the question for normal, low to medium traffic sites.

Medyman,

That is definitely the other end of the scope. if your big enough you can outsource your ad campaign. The problem is that i don't want advertising notices, because i don't want to do web design; i suck at it and it is a waste of time (and therefore no website). I'm thinking about pdf publishing with imagemaps. So a full page image as advertisement. I'm working on a proof of concept, but finding advertisers is challenging. That's why the question about text links or imagemaps. The easy solution or the more sophisticated one.
Are there companies that you know of that provide the same service with a smaller required user base?

There are a ton of niche ad networks. Many are fairly priced. It really depends on target market. That said, what is your target market?

Ton? My search query must be totally wrong than. When i was looking for affiliate programs I came across a few, but there starting price point I cou;dn't find out and they indeed were operating for the bigger players.
My target market is for those that do open source implementations. By that i mean those that use the source and adjust it. I expect it to be a niche and that's why i need specific advertisers.

Medyman,

Do you own some of those domains or do you provide services for those domains? I try to understand when it makes sense to use that kind of service! As i spoke to someone recently that said those services usually are handled with account managers that seek partners themselves and have just a webpage for the plebs - like me - for information, but who are not really a partner they consider.
