gif animated images

Hi, could anyone advise me what programs could i use to create gif images, other than fireworks & photoshop. I could GIMP could do it.

I believe it (The Gimp) can. I use Paint Shop Pro 7's Animation Shop add on. But really, after knocking around in the 'web-o-sphere' for so long, I will use just about anything I can get my hands on that will do the job. There are all sorts of free utilities out there (for download or web based), as well as stock image files in the public domain, that once you set your mind to something (in an animated gif image) all that could possibly hold you back is lack of persistence, or possibly really bad luck.

easy gif animator, zoner gif animator and text animation; fontmagic.
I would go for zoner and paintshop.

I use gimp for altering my graphics its really good and free unlike photoshop and fireworks. Have you tried it?
