Hi
I have just finished my new site called at
http://www.websnips.com

This site allows you to make a widget out of any other site.

Please tell me what you think, any advice etc?

Thanks

very cool, but the images don't show up because the server addy is remote.

It also might be nice if they were in javascript generated rounded cornered content boxes.

The idea is great, but you are going to suffer from outdated content, missing post/request, and pathing issues.

What I'd reccommend, is identifying 3+ surrounding element id's (or only targetting elements with ids), so that the content updates as the site updates. Of course then you are also dealing with data farming law suits from certain sites once this is functional.

with javascript it's easy to get the location.href, and from there just get the bas url, and do a scan of your html for "src=", and "href=/" tags, and apply as needed.

Hi
This does automatically update like you described. To protect myself legally i will put a disclaimer up and you will automatically agree by clicking the ok button. Furthermore i will provide a link to the sites content from the widget.

What are your thoughts on this?

Thanks

I like it. :)

You may want to actually communicate individually per site, and make it so they can designate which content they want widgeted, and have a nice little "make this a widget for myspace/wtf ever", that links directly to an api that widgets the content and provides them the source code in a javascript popwindow.

Also, this will increase the demand, as it wouldn't be seen as an invasive technique, but rather being a part of something new & neato.

I honestly feel wrapping itin a stylable rounded rectangle would make a big dif as well though.
