Can any of you guys direct me to a good link where I can download a bootable copy of Linux so I can burn it into a CD and try it out? Thanks in advance for your help.

which distro would you like?

If you're looking for a live CD just to try out, maybe try Knoppix (http://www.knopper.net/knoppix/index-en.html) or Slax (http://www.slax.org/).
