This isn't so much a 'how do I do something in flash?' question, but it does relate to flash. Hopefully someone may have an idea.
I am working on a site for a client. The home page includes both a large flash animation and a dropdown menu. The menu is positioned so that the dropdowns open on top of the flash piece.
I have already added in the standard fixes of setting the flash piece's wmode to opaque (I prefer that route over going transparent - but I tried transparent too, it made no difference), the visibility set to visible, and all of my z-indexes in order.
Unfortunately, while the menus are dropping down over the flash like they should... they start flickering when you mouse over them in certain browsers. (Most windows platforms seem fine. The biggest culprits are FF and Opera under Mac OSX). I know this issue isn't unique to the menu script itself. I tried both DD's 'All Levels Navigational Menu' and the 'Son of Suckerfish' and they both displayed the same flickery issues on the same browsers.
So I ask...
Is there something I can add to the flash itself to make it play nicer with DHTML? (The flash piece itself is just a large, non-looping animation with an XML-driven news ticker imbedded into the bottom of it.)
Or, is there something on top of those 'standard' fixes that I can add to the page coding?
Or or, does anyone know of a customizable drop-down menu script out there that will definitely behave when used on top of flash?
Thanks for any ideas.
