Hi all,

I've been looking for a good alternative to Print Screen, but there are so many out there and so far none have the one feature I'm looking for:

You know how when you hold alt and hit Print Screen, it only captures the active window? Well, I'd like a similar modifier key functionality for capturing to a series of pictures, instead of copying to the clipboard.

Every utility I've found can both create a series of images or copy to the clipboard, but you have to open the utility and set it every time. Most of the time I do a screen capture I WANT to copy to the clipboard, so I want to be able to just hold down an extra button for the image-creation functionality.

Thanks for any links!

Hm, that seems way more complicated than what I'm looking for, and it costs money! Thanks though.

Pretty much every freeware screen capture utility has the option to create image files or copy to clipboard, but you have to open the program to toggle the option. I just need one that has the ability to toggle that option with a modifier key or a hotkey or something.

I believe Screen Hunter (http://www.wisdom-soft.com/sh/sh_free.htm) offers this...

I've been using MWSnap (http://www.mirekw.com/winfreeware/mwsnap.html) for over 2 years now and really impressed with its features.

Snagit is a wonderful screen capture application. But it seems there is not capture feature for a series of images.

I would agree with Danial that ScreenIT (http://www.techsmith.com/screen-capture.asp) by TechSmith is the BEST capture utility out there. It allows video capture on the screen.

It alows you to capture LIVE links from webpages that you capture images from.

I rather like KSnapshot (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KSnapshot) myself. It doesn't do series automatically, but the way does default filenames, it's very easy.
